Oh, I don’t think I like that one bit!

August 31, 2010

Oh, I don’t think I like that one bit. I was surfing today, checking out real estate websites. I ran across something today that really got under my skin. Statistics showing one person’s website activity as compared to other local real estate sites. Wow, that is rather ballsy, for lack of a better phrase.

Being curious I went to check this out. I did my favorite thing and googled it, found a different site from what this person used and voila, there it was. So I was curious, I checked my own site where I had stats. Interesting thing is that the stats this company gave me were way off, way off. They must be counting bots that crawl the site and more. More of what I don’t know. Then I ran the stats for this particular website and the 2 others used for comparison.

Bogus stats

Something is really wrong with the graph, the site that claimed to be number one is not. Perhaps it was because I used a different company. It really doesn’t matter. I didn’t like it when I first saw it, and I really don’t like it when I realized just how unreliable the numbers are. Reminded me of smear tactics smoke and mirrors type of hype like we see before elections. And the person/company that owns the site professes to be a very classy company, many high end properties. Hmmm…

I wonder what I would do if someone put me on a graph to compare to their website with stats that are not accurate. I don’t think I would like it even if the stats were accurate!

Nope, I don’t like that one bit, how about you?
