Update on Chick at the farm – hospital time

June 22, 2009

Baby CowTomorrow is the day. My little farmer friend Chick goes into the hospital tomorrow, we hope. There may be a hitch in the git along, they forgot to tell him to quit taking his coumadin yesterday. So at 9:00 am he goes for a quick blood test for the coumadin level, then we wait to hear. He will be admitted tomorrow, surgery on Friday. He has had some more problems with his Rheumatoid Arthritis, he injured his shoulder doing some farm type things he should not have been doing, so he is in a bit more pain than usual, and pretty scared about what is to come. For those of you that didn’t read the first 2 posts, they are here: A Hard Day at the Farm, and Update to a hard day at the farm.

I will keep you all posted. This will be a stressful time, and I am sure I will fall behind a bit with Activerain. Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers and concerns so far. They have meant a great deal to all of us.

We do have a new baby coming to the farm, a little red boy, who will take Ookie Jrs place at the milk bar on big Ookie. We had to wean the big boy, he is now about 400 pounds! I have been trying to figure out a way to ship him down to Pat Kennedy, he is too big to put in my jeep and take down there! And we will be getting a set of twins in a few weeks, red and white Holsteins for Ookie to raise as we will be taking the last 2 off of her and weaning them. So, busy time with babies at the farm even if we aren’t having our own. Pictures to follow when they arrive!
